✨ Lynne Griffiths - Leading with Purpose & Impact

Meet Lynne Griffiths, CEO of AG Comms: Pioneering Flexible and Purpose-Driven Work

Lynne Griffiths is the dynamic CEO and founder of AG Comms, a virtual internal communications and employee engagement agency established in 2010. With over a decade of experience at the helm, Lynne has led AG Comms to become a force for good, both for people and the planet.

AG Comms was born from Lynne's vision to create an agency powered by purpose, one that truly understands and supports the diverse needs of today's workforce. Recognising the importance of flexibility, Lynne designed a business model that benefits everyone who needs it—whether that's due to family commitments, personal passions, or simply a desire for a better work-life balance. This innovative approach has enabled AG Comms to build a talented and engaged team, committed to delivering exceptional internal communications and employee engagement solutions.

Since meeting Lynne she has become a mentor to me of how I would like to grow WILD & WILD into a more impactful sustainable business. She is going to be helping us grow to become a Certified B Corp business and I am getting so excited to work alongside her. It is so essential to stand out in business but at the same time be a force for good in our communities.

A Commitment to Impact and Sustainability

In 2020, AG Comms underwent a transformative journey to deepen its impact on both social and environmental fronts. Under Lynne’s leadership, the agency achieved the prestigious Certified B Corporation status, a recognition awarded to companies meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. This certification reflects Lynne's unwavering commitment to using business as a force for good.

Driving Purpose Beyond Profit

Lynne Griffiths is not only a leader in the communications industry but also a passionate advocate for using business as a lever for positive change. Her commitment to purpose-driven work extends beyond AG Comms; she actively champions initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as environmental stewardship.

Through AG Comms, Lynne is proving that businesses can thrive while prioritizing people and the planet. By fostering a culture of engagement, flexibility, and impact, Lynne has positioned AG Comms at the forefront of a new era in business—where purpose and profit go hand in hand.

We asked Lynne for her thoughts on the latest trends and opportunities she feels are popping right now - that female entrepreneurs could be working on.

What are the biggest opportunities you see right now that female entrepreneurs could be working on, and why do you think these areas are ripe for innovation?

For me, it has to be looking at how sustainable your business is and asking yourself 'what impact is your business having on people, planet and nature? How are you making a meaningful difference in the world and are you confident in communicating it?' They're big questions for anyone, but I see customers, employees and investors being super-hot on this topic because research tells us more people want to buy from, work for and invest in businesses that are doing good. I call it balancing purpose alongside profit. It changes your decision making as an entrepreneur.  Introducing sustainable practices and being able to demonstrate it (without greenwashing / green-hushing) helps to differentiate you and your business. There are new legislations coming this year that will impact all businesses in time, and if you're a supplier to a larger business, then your clients will soon be expecting you to have strong Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) credentials to keep being their supplier. Building ESG plans into your business as soon as possible will support your innovation, strengthen your customer offering and ultimately help you achieve your ambitions. I believe that businesses and leaders who do good, do well.

What was a pivotal moment of adversity in your career, and how did it shape your path forward?

Oooh there's been quite a few along the way. Working with an all male, senior leadership team in London, with me being a Northern lass and only 23 years old meant that I had to fight hard for my seat at the table and my voice to be heard, never mind be taken seriously. It was a slog. Then when I was 30, living in Holmes Chapel, on maternity leave (same company, different role), I was told my job was being made redundant if I didn't relocate back to head office in London. My daughter was 3 weeks old and my husband had just been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (he's ok!). It was at this point I knew I needed to take redundancy, focus on my family, then set up my own communications agency that supported women to deliver amazing projects around our lives (family, pets, charities, interests & hobbies). I thought 'why can't we work part-time, support each other and be there for our families at the same time?'. So that's what I did, nearly 15 years ago.

Can you share an unexpected lesson you learned along your journey that has significantly influenced your approach to business or leadership?

People care. They really care, and if you can engage your team in something they are passionate about (people, nature, planet) they will do everything they can to make a difference. Often people don't behave in this way because they don't connect or feel like they have the permission to do so, or they just don't know how to start. Involving my team (30+ members) in our purpose journey in 2021 has seen our volunteering and pro-bono support for non-profits skyrocket. This year we have donated £100,000+ to charities that help drive Equality for Women and Girls and Climate Action (our goals). All of our team members have helped deliver this in 3.5 years. It wasn't even a target amount - the target was the impact we wanted to create. This funding has paid salaries for women in the North West of England and Kenya. It's helped communicate climate action and women's rights in the UK and internationally, and it has funded team projects aimed at rewilding our country, restoring nature and lobbying to change UK laws for local community renewable energy.

If you had asked me what our goals were in 2021 - it would be nowhere near this level. But it becomes quite addictive. Doing good feels good, and that makes you want to do even more.  .

Join us for the October Women’s Networking Event and be inspired by Lynne Griffiths' journey and vision.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!

That's the post!
